3 Cross-Country RV Trips to Take in Your RV

There is nothing more American than taking a great road trip. And when you’re an RV enthusiast, it’s almost a requirement for you to complete at least one country-wide trek in your lifetime. If you’re considering taking to the road in 2022 and living an exciting adventure, then check out these three cross-country road trips to take in your RV.

The Loneliest Road

This 3,200-mile road trip follows U.S. Highway 50. It has not only been dubbed The Loneliest Road, but also the Backbone of America. It spans from San Francisco all the way to Maryland, and passes through picturesque small towns, mountain ranges, and agricultural farmlands. Notable stops include Lake Tahoe, The Great Basin, Kansas City, St. Louis, the American Heartland, Washington D.C., and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. This is the type of trip for those who want to take their time meandering throughout small, timeworn towns.

Route 66

The mother of all cross-country trips is the most iconic and indicative of American road travel—Historic Route 66. Spanning from Los Angeles to Chicago, this route covers nearly 2,450 miles. Along the way, you’ll see the Gateway Arch and the plains of Oklahoma, and you’ll pass through Amarillo, Texas, home of the Cadillac Ranch. You’ll travel through New Mexico and Arizona, which will put you in position to take a detour to the Grand Canyon. The route ends at the Santa Monica Pier in California.

Border to Border

We usually think of cross-country trips involving travel from coast to coast, or thereabouts. But there is also a great border-to-border trip to consider! U.S. Highway 93 spans from Canada to Mexico, and passes directly through Las Vegas. This route offers plenty of rugged beauty, promising views of the Canadian Rockies to the desert and even the Grand Canyon.

Planning a cross-country trip can be challenging, but don’t let that stop you. With some time and effort, and keeping certain considerations in mind, you can plan an epic road trip that you’ll never forget.
