5 Benefits of Pop-Up Campers

When many people think of RVs, they think of Class A, B, and C rigs or even camper vans. As a result, pop-up campers are often overlooked. But these pop-up rigs are excellent options for anyone who wants to try out RVing for the first time without breaking the bank.

Pop-up campers offer a host of benefits, including that they are:

Lightweight

Pop-up campers are a great option for anyone just starting to RV because they are lightweight and easy to tow. In fact, most pop-ups come in under 3,000 pounds and can easily be towed by a mid-size truck or SUV, a crossover vehicle, and even some cars. Plus, their low profiles cut down on wind resistance, so towing is even easier.

Affordable

Out of all the RV options on the market—and there are many!—pop-up RVs are the most affordable. They feature minimal designs and amenities, but they make up for what they lack with a great price and convenience. Plus, there are plenty of pop-ups that have wet baths and even outdoor kitchens to maximize space and help elevate the camping experience.

Require Minimal Storage Space

Thanks to their compact designs, pop-up campers leave a small footprint and are low profile. This makes them easy to store, whether in a garage, driveway, backyard, or a storage facility.

Easy to Set Up

Pop-up campers may be even easier to set up than a tent, and they certainly don’t require a lot of campsite finagling like larger rigs do. Typically, all you need to do is pull into your campsite and level the trailer. Then you crank up the roof (or use an automatic lift, if your camper features that) and then slide out the side beds. Once you’ve secured the canvas around them with Velcro and pulled the door down, you’re ready to go.

Able to Go Anywhere

The compact size and towability of a pop-up RV means they can go pretty much anywhere. They can fit in any size campsite, including tent sites, and oftentimes can be used during off-roading and boondocking adventures. Want to camp near a secluded lake for a few days? Or want to snag a spot in a campground normally overcrowded with larger RVS? Using a pop-up is a great option.
