5 Reasons Why You Should Tailgate in Your RV

College is back in session and that means college football is here. And professional football kicks off in a few short days. That means it’s officially tailgating season!

Tailgating is a time-honored tradition, with its origin story as it relates to football games a bit murky at best. Did reveling fans tailgate at the first football game? Who knows. Either way, you don’t need history to know that tailgating can be a fun and exciting way to get pumped up for a game. And there’s no better way to throw a tailgating party than with your RV.

Here are 5 good reasons why you should get your rig to the football field for the next game:

Power at Your Disposal

Whether you run a generator or are plugged into a source of electricity, you’ll be able to enjoy the comforts of home as you tailgate. If the day is hot, you can run the AC. Or run the heat at a chilly night game. Turn on the TVs and hear the pre-game commentary while you’re sitting outside under the awning. Better yet, bring a TV outside with you!

Food at Your Fingertips

Part of the magic of tailgating is the food, and when you have an RV, you likely have a kitchen at your disposal. Crock pot chili, hot dogs, burgers, ribs, chips and dip, and so much more can be prepared and even cooked in your RV. Need to zap something in the microwave? You’re covered. Need to bring the pimento cheese out of the hot sun? Toss it in the fridge. Does the crew need another tray of nachos? Pop it in the oven.

Perhaps most importantly, having access to your own bathroom while tailgating makes the day go from good to great. You won’t have to stand in line to use a portable toilet and you certainly won’t have to worry about cleanliness.

Tailgating happens outside and the weather can be fickle. Some days it might be drizzling and cold, other days it might be sizzling and hot. You’ll also be able to bring and store extra clothes and throw on a hoodie or change into a t-shirt if you need to. And take advantage of your RV’s storage capabilities – bring extra camp chairs, blankets, and other items that will make you comfortable.

Avoid Traffic After the Game

After the tailgating extravaganza and after the game is when everyone tries to leave at the same time. But if you’re in your rig, you can hang out after the game with friends and family, enjoy some snacks, and wait for the exiting traffic to die down before you hit the road. There’s no reason to rush and sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic when you have a house on wheels back in the lot.
