Benefits of Traveling in a Large RV

While small and mid-size RVs – typically your Class B and C vehicles – offer many people great options for owning and traveling in an RV, the larger models may be more appealing to others, based on their specific needs and budget. Class A motorhomes and motor coaches are the largest RVs on the market, with some models reaching 45 feet in length, and they come with a long list of their own advantages.

For instance, with a large RV, you’ll enjoy:

  • Space, space, and more space – Class A motorhomes typically come with full underbelly storage as compared to smaller rigs, so taking along your fishing gear, kayak, and more is possible. Large RVs also have more interior storage space, which can help make traveling and living in the rig a lot nicer for you, especially if you’re traveling with the entire family. Plus, if you plan to live and work in your RV full time, having the extra space to use as a workstation – without having to make sleeping space a makeshift work spot during the day – may be ideal, making a Class A rig an optimal choice for you.
  • More height – Large RVs are not only longer in length compared to Class C and B RVs, but they typically have more height to them, too – sometimes as much as a foot more than an Class C. As such, Class As are often the most comfortable options for tall people, who can move around without needing to duck or hunch over as much as they might in a smaller vehicle. The added height also provides a grand view of the road, as the driver and passenger are set higher up in the vehicle as compared to smaller rigs.
  • Automatic leveling – Making sure any RV is level when parked is vital for a safe and comfortable camping experience. With small and mid-size vehicles, leveling is done manually with planks or hand-crack jacks, which can be time consuming and somewhat difficult. However, many larger RVs come with hydraulic stabilizing jacks, which can make the leveling process as simple as pulling into a campsite and pushing a few buttons to activate the jacks.
  • Lots of standard features – Because larger RVs have the space available, they often come with more standard features, amenities, and appliances than smaller vehicles, including options such as washers and dryers and even full-size kitchens with islands! The creature comforts of home that you’re used to are more readily available in larger rigs.
While these advantages alone may be enough to make you want a Class A rig, be sure to do your homework. Selecting an RV, regardless of its size, is a decision that should be weighed carefully, keeping your specific travel and living needs, requirements, and budget in mind. Have questions?
