Celebrate Easter in Your RV

The beginning of spring means Easter is right around the corner. If you’re used to celebrating the holiday at home with family and friends, never fear: You can still enjoy a lovely spring weekend and Easter day itself, even when you’re on the road.

Here are just a few easy ways you can celebrate Easter with family and loved ones in your RV:

• Choose a destination where special events are occurring – From sunrise services to photos with the Easter Bunny, there are many events across the country scheduled in popular travel destinations and campgrounds. First, review event calendars of cities and towns in which you’d be happy to camp in over Easter weekend. Then poll the family to find out the activities they most want to participate in and choose your destination that way. Don’t forget to call ahead to confirm dates and times and buy tickets or reserve spots in advance, if needed.
• Decorate eggs – Don’t let this fun Easter tradition fall away just because you’re not at home! Start with previously dyed, hard-boiled or blown eggs, or use undyed eggs that you can paint. Set up a craft table outside your RV in the fresh, spring air, gather paints, glue, jewels, yarn, or any other craft items you want to use as decoration. This is an activity that nearly anyone can participate in, so get your crew together and start decorating.
• Plan a delicious meal – Just because you’re in an RV doesn’t mean you have to forfeit Easter dinner. Baking a ham in your RV oven can be straightforward, and luckily, difficult to mess up. But, if you’d rather not use your RV’s oven, you can opt to cook ham steaks – or your protein of choice – on the stove burners or outside on the grill. Add a few easy-to-make sides, such as green beans, corn, and perhaps some macaroni and cheese, and you’ll have a feast fit for kings in no time. Or, make it even easier on yourself and get other campers together to do an Easter pot luck!
• Set up an Easter egg hunt for the kids – Even though you may be far from home, you can still create a fun and exciting Easter egg hunt for youngsters. Whether you’re in an urban campground or in a remote, woodsy setting, you can get creative and hide eggs on the RV wheels, in forested spots, around the firepit, or in other nooks and crannies, such as the folds in a grill cover.
• Get adventurous – Like many holidays, Easter often means eating too much food and candy. Luckily, when you’re camping in your RV, you’re in a prime position to get outside and play. Plan a walk or a hike, get out on the river or lake for some water sports and fishing, or buy tickets to attend a theme park or water park for the day.
