Decorating for the Holidays in Your RV

With the holiday season upon us, you (like many RVers) may be turning to your rig to travel, especially if visiting family isn’t possible. Even though you might be spending Christmas and other holidays in a truck camper, 5th wheel, or diesel pusher this year doesn’t mean you can’t create a festive feeling in your rig.

Here are just a few ways you can decorate your RV for the holidays:

Put Up a Tree

A traditional tree, whether real or fake, would be difficult to fit in most rigs, but there are lots of alternatives that you can try. A small tabletop tree is an excellent option and can fit pretty much anywhere on a flat surface. Other ideas include putting up festive garlands instead of a physical tree.

Use Nature

Don’t forget that what you find out on a hike or walk could be used as part of your decor. For example, you could decorate a tree or bush near your campsite with ornaments and lights. You could even gather pinecones, sprigs of evergreen needles, twigs, and berries to be used in decor and craft projects. Remember to heed any guidelines and regulations about local flora before gathering and using natural items.

Add Outdoor Lights

Nothing says the holidays like some lights strung up on your awning and around your rig. But you could take it a step further and use a light projector to project patterned lights and shapes on your rig. And don’t forget that simple solar lights along paths or walkways can instantly add ambient light and charm to your holiday campsite as well.

Explore Interior Decor

Setting up the interior of your RV is an easy and cozy way to celebrate the holidays. Set out jar candles or flameless air fresheners scented with apples, cinnamon, vanilla, or pine. Choose kitchen and bath linens, especially hand and dish towels, that feature holiday themes. Additionally, throw pillows and blankets that match your holiday theme can be added to the main living area and on beds to help create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. And remember, you can experiment with themes and color palettes! If you prefer a neutral, rustic vibe to your everyday decor, you can easily adapt your holiday decorations to suit that theme.
