Good Sam Membership

Good Sam Membership

Good Sam Membership

If you’re a part of the RV world in any shape or form, you’ve probably heard of Good Sam.

But what is Good Sam? It’s an RV membership club that has been in operation since 1966 and has the world’s largest RV owner membership base. Membership provides discounts at a network of about 2,400 Good Sam RV camping parks and dump stations, as well as savings on a number of other services, including:

  • Roadside assistance
  • Extended warranty plans
  • Travel assistance for medical emergencies
    • Plans are offered for individuals, couples, and families
  • Tire and wheel protection (tires must be in serviceable condition)
    • Flat tire repair
    • Tire replacement
    • Wheel repair or replacement
  • RV insurance
  • Auto insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Health insurance

Plus, members get discounts on fuel, propane, RV shows, and at retail stores such as Camping World. Free trip planning services are also included.

There’s even a Good Sam credit card that can help you earn reward points when you use the card for eligible purchases. For example, you can earn five points per $1 spent at the Good Sam family of brands, three points per $1 spent at private gas stations and campgrounds, and one point per $1 spent everywhere else. Then you can redeem your points for statement credits or gift cards!

How Much Does Good Sam Membership Cost?

Good Sam membership is available in tiers based on the length of membership you desire. A one-year membership is an affordable $29, while two-year and three-year memberships are $50 and $79, respectively. The higher tiers often come with added benefits or retail certificates to sweeten the deal.

Is it Worth It?

For many RVers, the Good Sam membership will be worth the price, because it will often pay for itself once discounts are used. For others, it may not be worth it, especially if the discounts and other services are not used frequently.

Ultimately, deciding whether membership is worth it for you will largely depend on what type of camping you do. If you prefer boondocking over staying at campgrounds, the membership might not do a lot for you. But if you typically stay at campgrounds and can access the ones that offer Good Sam discounts, membership might be perfect for you.

Do some research and see if the Good Sam membership offerings are things you could take advantage of and if so, becoming a member could help you save some money and enhance your RV lifestyle.
