International Travel in the Near Future

Although there may be no official end to the current pandemic, many travelers are impatiently waiting for international borders to open up once more. As countries begin to open up, here are a few things you’ll want to start to consider before you book your next international trip.

Covid Restrictions:

The first thing to consider is any Covid restrictions that a country may have in place for international travel. Kayak has a great source to check out the different requirements and restrictions you may encounter.

Paperwork:

In order to cross the border into another country, you should expect to bring a lot of paperwork. Make sure you are prepared in order to make your trip as quick and hassle-free as possible. A few important things to have:

  • Passport
  • Medical and auto insurance
  • Drivers license
  • Credit cards
  • Travel visa
  • Notebook for itineraries

If you are planning on renting an RV when you arrive, you’ll also want to make sure you have the appropriate drivers license and insurance information before you go.

Travel Apps:

When traveling in unfamiliar territory, apps are a great way to assist with directions, translation, finding landmarks, communicating with friends/family back home and so much more. Here are some apps to download before you head overseas:

  • Google Maps or Wave
  • Google Translate
  • WiFi Map
  • Mobile Passport
  • WhatsApp
  • Uber
  • SitOrSquat
  • CityMapper

If you are planning on staying in RV parks or campground, be sure to book beforehand so you’ll be guaranteed a secure location to hook-up at night. Make sure you know the location and any specific rules the park or campground may have.

It’s also a good idea to make a packing check-list before you go to alleviate some of the stress of international travel preparation. It might be helpful to travel with a few basic necessities, such as a first aid kit, flashlights and extra blankets – in case you need these directly upon arrival. Also make sure to consider if the country you are visiting will have a different electric outlet plug so you can bring the appropriate converter or adaptor.

Overall, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we hope that everyone will be able to take that dream overseas trip soon.  Have fun and safe travels!
