Planning a Spring RV Trip?

Spring is a perfect time of year for travel in the United States. The expense and indulgence of the holidays is a distant memory and the weather is the perfect blend of warm yet comfortable, without the blazing heat of summertime. It’s time to get out on the road in your rig.

If you’re itching for a spring getaway in your RV, consider planning a trip around:

• National parks – At some point in your lifetime, you’ve probably yearned to see the majesty and beauty that our country’s national parks offer in person, and spring is a excellent time to make those dreams a reality. While many of the most famous parks – like Yosemite National Park in California and Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona – are teeming with visitors in the summer, they are much more subdued in the springtime, allowing visitors a quieter and less crowded experience. Keep in mind that to stay inside a national park, you may have to dry camp, or boondock. But there are plenty of other campgrounds with full hookups in the surrounding areas.

• Music festivals – Mild spring days and nights make it a necessity to be outside as much as possible. Luckily, if you plan your springtime RV trip around a music festival, you’ll not only be able to enjoy beautiful weather but will be entertained at the same time. The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in the city of New Orleans is one such festival that occurs on the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May each year, with acts ranging from world-known performers to local bands. Coachella in California and Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville, Florida, are two other popular festivals. Make sure to get tickets and find a campground or other location to set up camp in advance. Some festivals may allow camping on the fairgrounds.

• Beaches – If you decide to do a beach trip, your best bet for the warmest weather will be to travel to southern locations along the Gulf Coast. While springtime in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas is decidedly warmer than most states north, there are still some chilly spring days you might contend with. But the further south you go, the more likely you are to experience beautiful weather. More importantly, if you go in the late spring, you’ll be in the sweet spot between the hordes of spring break visitors and summer vacationers, so the beaches will be less crowded.

Regardless of the location or event you plan your spring RV trip around, you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy the mild temperatures and activities you enjoy. So, get out there!
