RV Camping at Fort Wilderness

RV Camping at Fort Wilderness

Fort Wilderness is a picturesque camping resort at Walt Disney World property in Orlando, Florida. Spanning about 750 acres of forest filled with pine and cypress trees, it’s designed to mimic the American Frontier, where adventure and nature go hand in hand. For RVers, Fort Wilderness is an excellent option to stay near Disney World and experience the magic and wonder for which Disney World and all of its properties are known.

Layout

Approximately 800 campsites (and cabins, too) are arranged in 21 different loops throughout the Fort Wilderness. As an RVer, you would be staying in one of the 21 loops. Certain loops are close to the marina which has boat transportation to the theme parks, while others are more secluded and away from amenities and activities.

Plus, each loop of the Fort Wilderness layout has bathroom and laundry facilities and ice machines within walking distance from most campsites.

It’s best to review the campsite layout closely and read reviews prior to making a reservation.

Campsites

There are four different types of campsites at Fort Wilderness. Premium campsites have an 18×60 concrete pad and can accommodate larger RVs while full hook-up sites have a 10×50 concrete pad. There are even two types of smaller sites on which pop-up campers and camper vans can fit, along with a tent.

All sites are nestled into the quiet forest with privacy-enhancing landscaping. Each site features electrical and TV hookups, a picnic table, a charcoal grill, and free high-speed WiFi access. Most sites also have sewage hookups, but be sure to confirm exactly what you’re getting when making reservations.

Amenities

Aside from seeing the natural beauty and woodland creatures that abound in Fort Wilderness, guests of Fort Wilderness can enjoy spectacular amenities and activities not found at other RV resorts. For example, the campground features multiple pools (one with a waterslide!) and fun recreational activities such as basketball, volleyball, archery, horseback riding, and canoeing are available. Take an evening stroll on one of the many walking paths or rent a bike or golf cart to get around the expansive property. Also on site are video game arcades, fire pits, a dinner theater, multiple dining options, and much more.
