With summer around the corner and the weather warming up around the US, seasonal snowbirds are starting to prepare for the trip back north. Maybe you were visiting family somewhere warmer for the winter, or perhaps you’re looking forward to catching up with family when you return home. Whatever the case, a bit of preparation for your trip can go a long way.
If you have a big drive ahead of you, it’s best to make sure your RV is in top traveling condition. Check all fluids, tire pressure, brakes and electrical equipment (horn, wipes, lights), change air filter, flush water system and do a visual inspection to make sure everything appears to be in working order. Check out some of our other maintenance tips to keep you safe on the road.
It may also be helpful to start thinking about the route you’ll take home. Planning out your trip in advanced can save you time, money and a headache. While some people may not mind scrambling to find an RV park at 9pm after driving for 14 hours, for others it’s a relief to know where they will be staying that night. There are plenty of websites to help you scout out RV parks along your route and others that will offer discounts and even free stays at certain RV parks. If you haven’t already, it may be worth looking into memberships that offer discounted stays for seniors and frequent RVers.
Here in Florida, we’re blessed with beautiful weather for most of the year.
