The concept of selling your RV online and directly to a dealer is not new by any means. The only concern is to which dealer, as some are unscrupulous and won’t give you a fair deal. So far we can recommend TWO, LaMesa RV and now RVSelect. The key to a successful transaction is due diligence. Don’t be in too much of a hurry… compare offers and procedures offered, and when you feel satisfied, go for it. If you give RVSelect a chance to bid on your rig, we know you’ll be glad you listened to our referral.
After checking with Camping World, LazyDays, PPL, LaMesa RV, RVSelect, BlueCompass and a few others, RVSelect in Seffner offered us the most competitive and easy process. BobbyLee Estabrook was super to deal with, detailed and fair. He offered us $275,000 for our 2-yr old Discovery 44B, whereas we got offers as little as $190,000 from Blue Compass. Even Camping World agreed we got a great offer for an outright sale and when one dealer recognizes the value another dealer has offered, that says a lot. Their process was simple too. Sent them photos of the RV, disclosed any/all discrepancies with it (minor touch ups they can deal with) and they will have a driver come pick it up with either Cashier’s Check (or Wire Transfer to your bank) in hand and the sale is complete at that moment. The pick-up driver(Jay) was super too. You get a photo of who is coming to get it, and he was very professional.
Yes, you might make a bit more $$$ consigning it, or trying to sell it yourself, but it will probably take longer to find a buyer (and Time is $$). The longer it takes, the lower it will be worth due to depreciation (as new Used Value books come out), plus you’ll still be responsible to keep paying Insurance, lot storage, continuing to be responsible for it, taxes, etc.
Selling it on your own can take even longer, plus you’ll still have to deal with added costs of advertising, having to show it over and over, and deal with prospective buyer’s questions, comment and idiosyncrasies. All in all, we have learned that ‘a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush’ and it’s better to avoid all the extra unnecessary hassle, IF still securing a fair offer, which we did at RVSelect.
This is what made RVSelect (Seffner FL) and BobbyLee so special to deal with. BobbyLee was fair, communicative and timely to respond and made the whole process very easy.
Now, if we can just find someone that wants to buy a Thousand Trails Elite Membership, at a great savings, that would be the topping on the cake.
Overall, we recommend RVSelect (and BobbyLee Estabrook) to sell your RV to (or trade it in). Happy Trails!
