Three Types of Places to Stay in Your RV

You’ve got your RV and you’re planning to explore the wide, open road. You’ve mapped out the route you’ll take and know what stops you’ll be making to enjoy scenic vistas, local attractions, and regional cuisine. But do you know where you’ll be parked each night? Before you head out in your RV, whether for just a weekend getaway or for an entire season, it’s important to have a general idea about which location you might ultimately want to spend a night or more. Once you figure that out, you should determine the type of place at which you want to park your rig. And, if you do your research in advance of your trip, you can choose the locations along your route that suit your needs, whether you’re traveling with just adults or the entire family in tow.

To help you get started with your research, here are three types of places you can park your RV and settle in for the night:

Campgrounds – If you’re typically happy to be one with nature when you’re parked for a stay, then a campground is probably the type of place for you. These locations often allow visitors to be immersed in nature (think national and state parks) and often don’t have water, electrical, and sewer hookups on individual sites. Some sites may have a fire pit, some may not. What’s important to remember is that you should be prepared to boondock or dry camp at campground locations. While campgrounds are great for just adults and children alike, also keep in mind that amenities and things that may otherwise keep kids entertained may not be available. RV parks – These types of locations usually cater to overnighting or seasonal RVers, offering individual sites with at least water and electric hookups. Some parks may even have on-site sewer hookups as well. What’s more, RV parks nicely blend two things: nature with other park amenities. Campers can enjoy the majesty of trees, lakes, and other natural beauties, but also take advantage of amenities such as swimming pools, laundry facilities, and perhaps even a place to grab lunch or dinner. RV parks are wonderful spots for adults and families alike. RV resorts – For long-term RVers who enjoy making their campsite home for a month or more, the RV resort is an option. Often considered to be small communities or neighborhoods, RV resorts offers residents full hookups and usually other premium services, such as wireless internet and digital television. In addition, these resorts typically run a host of activities, such as dance and art classes, and may even feature golf courses, spas, and clubhouses where a variety of events for the residents are held. These locations are typically for adults only. Luckily, there are thousands of campgrounds, RV parks, and RV resorts across the United States and Canada, so no matter where you end up for a night or so, you’re sure to find a place to park your rig that feels just right.
