Top RV Trends to Look Out for in 2022

RVing is experiencing its greatest popularity ever, and there are no signs of slowing down—it seems like everyone wants an RV! In December 2021, Thor Industries announced that they had more than $18 billion dollars worth of backlogged RV orders, and they anticipate that dealers may not be fully restocked until 2023. And that’s just one manufacturer.

With this explosion in demand comes innovation and design changes that manufacturers want to implement to satisfy their customers. Here are some of the top RV trends you can expect to see throughout 2022:

Electric RVs

The push for electric RVs—and even electric trucks capable of towing rigs—is huge right now. While we haven’t yet seen an e-RV hit the market for sale yet, multiple manufacturers, including Winnebago and Thor Industries, announced concept vehicles this year. Being eco-conscious is important to a wide population of RVers and the manufacturers want to ensure they can meet the needs of that demographic.

Built-in Workspaces

The pandemic helped make remote work more the norm than the exception, and RV manufacturers are catering to full-time RVers who work from the road with built-in workspaces. It’s no surprise that Airstream—known for innovative design and sleek appeal—is one the first to implement workspaces in their Flying Cloud 30FB Office model. This allows young professionals and working parents with families the opportunity to work remotely without the need for an expensive RV renovation to create a workspace.

Multifunctional Furniture

Another major push in RV design involves maximizing space at all costs. With more families full-timing, RVs need to deliver on storage and interiors that can be used in multiple ways. That’s where multifunctional furniture is coming into play. Salem by Forest River features the new Versa Lounge System, in which a dinette converts to a sectional sofa and expansive sleeping space as well.

2022 is sure to bring many more creative design and functional implementations to RVs. What are some trends you’re excited about? Let us know in the comment or contact us today!
