Valentine’s Day on the Road

Heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, stuffed animals, and cards that have been gracing store shelves for seemingly weeks now are a clear indicator that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. For many people, buying these items and a bouquet of roses is the way to show someone you care. But for others, embarking on an RV getaway is the ultimate show of affection.

So this month, here are a few escapes that might be a great way to spend Valentine’s Day:

  • Napa Valley, California – if a romantic wine dinner for two is your idea of a perfect date, Napa Valley may be your go-to. With no shortage of wineries and nearby RV campgrounds – like Steele Canyon Campground situated along picturesque Lake Berryessa – you’re sure to find a scenic spot to set up camp and sample some of the country’s best wines. From strolling sun-drenched vineyards to partaking in kayaking, fishing, and water skiing on the lake, you’ll have plenty of activities at your disposal as well.
  • Beach getaway – our own Sunshine State is known for some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Whether the energy of South Beach in Miami gets your motor going or the slower, quieter pace of Bahia State Park on Big Pine Key is more your style, there’s surely a beach location that will offer the sun, sand, and romantic sunsets you’re looking for, with RV camping on-site or nearby. Bahia State Park, for example, has RV campsites right next to the water.
  • Running away to the mountains– what’s not to love about waking up early to watch the sunrise among mountains, lakes and streams? If a mountain trip is more your speed, consider heading to the Great Smoky Mountains and staying at Moonshine Creek Campground for a secluded retreat in Sylva, North Carolina. Park your RV along the creek and enjoy the beauty of nature.
