Warm-Weather Destinations to Visit This Winter

It’s no surprise that when cold weather hits the northern portions of the country, many people want to head south to sunshine and warmer temperatures. Whether you’re a full-time RV snowbird or just looking for ways to escape the frozen tundra and enjoy some beach weather on your RV vacation, you can’t go wrong with selecting a destination in the southern half of the U.S.

Here are a few states to travel to in your rig that will keep you warm all winter long!

Florida

RV Select is headquartered in Florida, and boy, are we thankful! Boasting a yearly average temperature of around 73 degrees Fahrenheit and being known for our copious amounts of sunshine, Florida is a natural contender for a winter-time getaway. There are plenty of RV parks and resorts to check out across the state, including many that feature beachfront sites. Whether the soft, white sands of Clearwater Beach (or everyone’s favorite mouse) are calling your name or you dream of traipsing through the Everglades, you’ll surely find a happy place here in Florida.

Alabama

Florida’s Gulf Coast neighbor to the northwest is Alabama. While you may not think of Alabama as a winter destination at first, you definitely should not discount it. The state features its own gorgeous white-sand beaches, such as Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, and is home to the Talladega Superspeedway, among other great attractions. Winter highs range in the mid-60s, making for beautiful days that you can spend working, exploring, or sampling pecan pies and barbeque.

Texas

Another Gulf Coast treasure, Texas holds its own in the beach department. But there’s so much more to this massive state that makes it the perfect destination for RVers in the wintertime. It’s a whopping 268,597 square miles in area, with plenty of room for RV parks and resorts in whatever region you want to call home. Austin, Texas, has become a mecca for music and is a must-see for any music fan. And don’t forget to check out the dude ranches, horseback riding, and other elements of cowboy culture and history.

Arizona

Last but certainly not least is Arizona. Snowbirds have flocked to this Southwestern jewel for decades for its warm, dry desert air (think mid-60s in the winter) and incredible natural beauty. The Grand Canyon is a must see and Bureau of Land Management sites at developed campgrounds or for boondocking are plentiful. Plus, the local Mexican and Southwestern-inspired food is as authentic and delicious as you can get.

Of course, these are just a few of the states that are excellent options as winter RVing destinations. Where do you like to bring your RV for the winter? Let us know in the comments or contact us today!
